Admin and finance staff

The organisation has three key teams – the services team for Devon and Torbay, the services team for Cornwall and Plymouth and the team of all our administrative, management and finance staff. This page explains a little more about these staff and their roles.

Chief executive

Jane Bell has been chief executive of Shared Lives South West since it was set up in 2004.  Prior to that Jane was deputy chief executive of the national Alzheimer’s Society for 10 years and has worked in the voluntary and public sector for her whole career. Jane is responsible for the leadership of the organisation, governance issues, marketing, PR and publicity, fundraising, projects and developments and HR.  Jane is also the registered manager for our Shared Lives services.

Jane chairs the South West branch of Shared Lives Plus- the national membership organisation for Shared Lives and small community services, and is a member of the Shared Lives Plus England committee.

Jane works with an executive assistant, Julie Heald.

Finance and resources

Shane Johnston is the finance and resources manager, based at the Zealley House office in Devon.  Shane is responsible for the finances of the organisation working with Ali Mills, our finance officer.  Shane also manages our admin and information systems, with support from admin staff in Devon (Anne Lennox, Emma White, Samantha Baxter and Polly Bayfield) and two staff in Cornwall (Jan Beardsall and Emily Pye).

Funding and benefits

Donna Bounden is our funding and benefits manager, and works within the finance and resources department.  Donna has a specialist background in welfare benefits and has developed an unrivalled expertise in how this works for Shared Lives.  Donna manages a team of staff who work with service users, Shared Lives carers and care purchasers to agree the fees for services, arrange funding with commissioners, calculate payments to carers and maximise service user contributions.  The team are located in our Devon office and one post is now located in the Cornwall office.  The team includes Ali Langmead, Sharon Harrison, Susan Craft-Lewis, and Helen Brown.
