Here are some basic facts and figures about Shared Lives South West.

Background

  • Developed through investment by Devon County Council, Torbay Council, Plymouth City Council and Cornwall Council
  • Works across those four authorities
  • Has always been an independent voluntary sector Shared Lives scheme
  • Was set up as SWAPS – the South West Adult Placement Scheme
  • Changed our name to Shared Lives South West in summer 2011

Service statistics

As of January 2012, we have

  • 202 Shared Lives carers
  • 228 people using a long term Shared Lives service
  • 93 people having regular short breaks
  • 30 full and part time staff
