If you think what Shared Lives South West do is worthwhile but don’t know how you can help here are some suggestions.
Tell people about Shared Lives
People are often not aware that Shared Lives exists. Please tell everyone about us – people who might like to be carers or who might find the service useful. Direct them here to our website! www.sharedlivessw.org.uk.
We can also provide posters, leaflets, cards and other information if you’d like to pass these on or have somewhere they could be displayed.
Invite us to speak to a group
We are very happy to come and speak to groups about Shared Lives South West, particularly groups where we might find potential Shared Lives carers or people who might think about using Shared Lives services but don’t know we exist.
Fundraise for us or make a donation
We organise meetings for carers and for service users and social events throughout the year – all of which we have to fundraise for. These informal opportunities to meet each other and share experiences with other people doing the same work are hugely valued. Your help can ensure we are able to keep doing this.

Become a trustee or join our panel
As a charity we are governed by a board of trustees who oversee the strategic direction of the organisation and ensure that it acts effectively to deliver high quality services. Meetings are held 5-6 times a year plus attendance at events with carers and service users. We particularly need people with social care experience, marketing and social media skills and/or public sector tendering knowledge.
Our Panel members are volunteers who have the final say on who recommend to our registered manager who should or should not be approved as a Shared Lives carer.
Panel members are completely independent from the organisation.
Become a Shared Lives carer
We are always looking for people with caring skills or experience, the right sort of accommodation and willingness for the whole household to share their home and family life – either on a full time basis or to offer regular short breaks.

….offer an ‘in kind’ donation of goods or services?
…offer a discount or preferential rate for people who use our services and their carers?
…. include our information in a mailing to all your customers?
Or just get in touch and let us know what you’d like to do!
