All about Shared Lives

These films are all about Shared Lives, from the point of view of five different Shared Lives households, who came together to make these films.  We hope we help you to understand what Shared Lives is all about and what the service can offer.

This first film will explain what Shared Lives is, how it operates, who Shared Lives South West are – and most importantly, what Shared Lives means to the people who use the service and to the Shared Lives carers who offer the service in their family homes.

Martin and Angela

Martin lives with Angela, a Shared Lives carer in Somerset. Angela is part of the Somerset County Council Shared Lives scheme and she supports three people through Shared Lives. Angela and her family and Martin kindly agreed to share their experiences with Shared Lives South West for these films.Videos

Sam and Sue live in Looe, in Cornwall.  This video is all about their life together in Shared Lives.

Ben and Leigh

Ben has lived with Leigh, a Shared Lives carer from North Devon for several years.  Initially, Leigh was a foster carer for Ben, but now he is an adult, Leigh supports Ben as a Shared Lives carer with Shared Lives South West.  Find out what Ben and Leigh think Shared Lives is all about.
